Our lab at Samsung, UXCA was asked to ideate and create some visual concepts for a new visual language for the lock screen of their flagship devices. This includes all premium phones and watches. The lock screen and visual face of the device experience are important because it is a key touchpoint to communicate brand values and is the screen seen most often by everyone using Samsung devices and is used across all marketing materials for that product line.
I began the process by analyzing trends and ideating broadly on visual languages before narrowing in on a polished look that lent itself well to mobile devices and watches alike and could tie in well with features such as time, weather and notifications.
Concepts from this project have gone on to set the trends and inform the visual language of Samsung over the past years.
