“The Truth is in the Ice,” is one of the poster/ print series I created while in the Global Warming Poster Design class. I arrived at the concept while reading some articles about scientist measuring the temperature of the core ice in the Antarctic and measure the rate of disappearance of the world’s glaciers. Numerous scientific editorial pieces were using research about ice (glacier cores) to confirm our concerns about global warming and the melting of polar ice caps. Many people are still denying global warming and climate change, but with such a large body of scientific evidence it becomes impossible to deny. That is where the tag line came from.

Each piece in this series, designed for a range of print media, presents some of the factual information found in my research, along with the tag line, “the truth is in the ice.” I created melting typographic ice that spelled “truth,” as compelling imagery and a visual metaphor, playing off the editorial facts.

Several of the pieces were designed to be read at both a poster level and an editorial level. The eerie quality of the image draws the viewer in, compelling them to read the editorial which contain relevant articles pertaining to polar ice melting and global warming.
